In 2000, Fort Oglethorpe Fire &
Rescue recognized a need for day-time firefighter staffing, the
time period when most volunteer firefighters were at work and
unable to respond to calls. At that time, two personnel were
hired. The staffing has now been increased to 24/7
suppression coverage utilizing part-time and volunteer
personnel. This staff not only responds to emergency and
non-emergency calls for service but also handles pre-plans for
all commercial structures in the City of Fort Oglethorpe. |
