Career Staff

In 2000, Fort Oglethorpe Fire & Rescue recognized a need for day-time firefighter staffing, the time period when most volunteer firefighters were at work and unable to respond to calls.  At that time, two personnel were hired.   The staffing has now been increased to five day time suppression staff.  This staff not only responds to emergency and non-emergency calls for service but also handles pre-plans for all commercial structures in the City of Fort Oglethorpe.  As well as assisting the volunteer staff with hose and hydrant testing inside the City of Fort Oglethorpe.  The career suppression staff can handle approximately 80% of all calls received during their time on shift.  But it is not without the assistance of the volunteers that the other 20% of the calls could not be handled with a positive outcome.
